Brierfield has its own Town Council, which was established in 1991. It has 13 elected councillors who serve for 4 years. From amongst the serving councillors, a Mayor is elected every year. Councillors do not get paid.
The Town Council has the power to raise income by means of the precept levied on households in the town. This is collected together with the Council Tax by Pendle Borough Council. The Council precept and expenditure are monitored annually by independent external auditors, appointed by the Government.
The Town Council do not have responsibility for housing, bin collections or Council Tax. If you have a query regarding any of these matters, please contact Pendle Council on 01282 661661.
